Holiday Lights and Digital Snow

Got your lights up yet?  We never bother with outdoor lights at Christmastime.  I suppose we could be called the grinches of the neighborhood, but it is something we have never done.  So I strung some digital white lights between the branches of these trees in the make-believe forest.  As you can see, I needed to take off my mittens to get them hung just right!  A little watercolor, some ink, a few vectors, and PhotoShop snow ~ all digital.

I wanted to see how far I could push the digital snow and came up with this:

I’m surprised, since the original trees looked like this out of my camera:

I am always amazed at what PhotoShop can do.  I intend to have a “real” Christmas as well as my digital one 🙂  These are full of real snow, towering above on a recent walk in Truckee.

We are getting much needed rain.  Yesterday, in San Francisco, they got more rain in 24 hours than they had in all of the previous year!!!!  Of, course this is causing streets to flood, but all the rain is so welcome after the drought summer.

Hope your holiday includes a bit of snow to play with ~ both kinds!
