Layers of Smoke ~ Driving up through the Tahoe Basin, at times you could smell the smoke from wildfires, other times it was visible. How I wish this were just an early morning misty fog rolling over the distant Sierra Nevadas, but it is smoke.
Then, to our surprise, there was unexpected, welcome rain the next day. It is early for the first rain, but it did leave a wonderful freshness to the air.
For me, there is always something special when the first rain of the season comes. It is the signal that Fall just might really be right around the corner. Never mind that it is 90* again today! This was taken just out the backdoor ~ we woke to the rain coming down so I threw on my robe and stepped out in it.
