Time for more news from Marie Otero and PaintedWorks ~ Our Charlotte class is full and we thank you all very much for signing up. We look forward to greeting you in Charlotte, North Carolina, in October for the workshop. It will be nice to see familiar faces and meet new ones. The date will be here before you know it.
Our next venue will be on the West Coast. How does that sound? February seems to be a good time for a get-away, so workshop plans are underway. I spent a few days scoping out the Carmel/Pacific Grove area and the photo-ops are amazing. It was also nice to walk around in the 75* weather and escape the 100*+ temps we have at the moment here in the valley. Marie and I thought it would be nice to be on the beach for scenes such as the one above which was taken at Point Joe near Bird Rock where the birds and seals play nice together.
Coastal sunsets along 17 Mile Drive, charming village scenes in Carmel-By-The-Sea, the woodsy-ness of the Del Monte Forest, and more ~ all within minutes of each other. How does that sound? Would you be interested?
But then, we are also checking out something on the water along the coast of Oregon. The temps would be a bit chillier than the Carmel area, but the rugged coastline is a great place to shoot and paint.
The image, below, was taken in Pacific Grove at the public beach near Lover’s Point. We watched seals playing on the rocks for over an hour.
The Del Monte forest area in the early morning fog ~ well, not terribly early, it was about 8am on our way to breakfast.
And the views along 17 Mile Drive are just spectacular! This is the famous Lone Cypress, the most photographed tree in North America ~
I won’t bore you with all the wonderful images, but I will tell you that one morning we walked the public beach at the end of Ocean Avenue in Carmel and watched the dolphins play. It was amazing.
So, think about the West Coast and drop me a note here. This area is pricey, but you cannot beat the views, rain or shine. We are continuing to research areas in the Pacific Grove/Carmel area as well as along the Oregon coast. Stay tuned. We will figure out the best place for the best value and keep you posted. Let us hear from you if you think a coastal venue in February would work for you!
